Type 6B: Monitor - Alarm - Alert - Combo

Battery Type Used: Group 24 & Group 27

The Type 6B238AM probe has a flashing red LED to show low water level in Group 24 and Group 27 batteries.

The flashing red color symbolizes a critical need and is often chosen for marine craft used in search and rescue where battery operation is

vital.

The probe length is 2-3/8" and this unit will operate when the battery acid drops below ½" over the internal battery plates. This probe is easily installed by drilling a 1/8" diameter hole through the center cell vent on the cover next to the battery negative post. The probe is then inserted and attached using the mounting screw. The cover is then put back on the battery and the black wire connected to the bolt on the battery negative post and the red wire connected to the positive post bolt.

Test is made by raising the cover with its probe out of the electrolyte and observing the flashing red LED.

Hydro-Eye also provides Type 6B probes already mounted in cell covers for Group 24 and Group 27 batteries.
