Type 2B: Monitor - Alarm - Alert - Combo

Battery Type Used: L-16 / T-105

The Type 2B178AM is a probe with a single LED. It is red, and flashes when water should be added to the battery.

This probe has a shaft length of 1-7/8" and is designed to be used on T-105 and L-16 deep cycle batteries which are used in critical applications

Hydro-Eye Type 2B Alarm Probe

like emergency power systems or for starting diesel motor pumps in sprinkler systems.

The red LED is a universal warning indicator and warns the operators that the batteries should be charged and water added immediately to avoid possible disaster due to failure of their safety installation. Emergency lighting and standby battery chargers are often trickle chargers which will use up water in the batteries faster, compared to chargers that shut off when full charge is reached, then only come back on when the battery voltage has decreased to 85% of full charge.

A simple flashing red LED is easy to spot by a night watchman in a factory or school.
