like emergency power systems or for starting
diesel motor pumps in sprinkler systems.
The
red LED is a universal warning indicator and
warns the operators that the batteries should
be charged and water added immediately to avoid
possible disaster due to failure of their safety
installation. Emergency lighting and standby
battery chargers are often trickle chargers
which will use up water in the batteries faster,
compared to chargers that shut off when full
charge is reached, then only come back on when
the battery voltage has decreased to 85% of
full charge.
A
simple flashing red LED is easy to spot by a
night watchman in a factory or school.
